The rate was fine. Somebody else answered first.

One buyer on IndiaMART writes to eight sellers. Most reply the next morning, because the enquiry sat in an email nobody was watching. That is the whole of it.

For steel, pipes, hardware, chemicals, textiles, machinery, packaging — anybody whose orders start as an enquiry.

Seventeen minutes from enquiry to proforma. The other seven sellers were still asleep on it.

A Tuesday

From the first enquiry to the ledger.

9:04

The IndiaMART enquiry answers itself

Name, number, and what they asked for — with the reply already sent, naming the product so it does not read as automatic.

Eight seconds, before anybody opened a laptop
9:40

The rate list goes out

The same PDF you send forty times a week, on a shortcut. Type /rate and it is attached.

11:15

Three enquiries, three people

Handed out in turn, each with a name against it. Nobody answers the same party twice, and nobody is left unanswered because everyone assumed somebody else had it.

1:30

Priya goes for lunch

Her conversations move to Rahul with the notes in them — including the one that says this party argues about rate every time.

3:02

Proforma, advance, dispatch

The payment link goes in the chat and the receipt comes back to it. What was promised is in the conversation, months later, with a name and a time on it.

6:30

The udhaar gets asked about

Without anybody having to make the call. This is the part of the day everybody puts off, and it is the part that decides whether the year was any good.

Four messages, each said differently
The udhaar

Everybody's money is with somebody else.

Asking for it is the most uncomfortable job in the business, so it waits — and then it is three months and a phone call nobody wants to make.

  • Before it is due, on the day, a week late, a month late
  • Each one worded differently — a month overdue is not a reminder
  • A UPI link on the message, and the receipt after
  • Read straight out of Zoho Books, if you keep one

What traders ask us

The four questions, answered plainly.

"Mere paas IndiaMART ka paid plan nahi hai."
Then the API is not available, and the leads come by email instead. Forward that email to an address we give you and the name and number are read out of it. It works; it is just less tidy.
covered
"Mera number block ho jayega?"
Not for this. Numbers get blocked for sending offers to people who did not ask — opt-outs are honoured automatically here, and every send is slowed on purpose. A trader answering enquiries is the opposite of what gets reported.
no
"Purana number hi rakhna hai."
Keep it. If it is on the WhatsApp Business app it can be brought across, and both keep working — your customers message the number already printed on your visiting card.
yes
"Meri team Hindi me hi kaam karti hai."
So do the templates. Every message in the library has a Hinglish version, and support is on WhatsApp in whichever is easier.
